Roller: Hold Up Roller (SC/SCi 42 )

This is the Hold Up Roller for the Colortrac (SC/SCi 42) large format scanners.

The hold up roller is a long, cushioned roller which presses the paper to the glass during the scanning process.

When replacing the hold up roller on an SC/SCi 42 scanner, it is recommended to replace the Hold Up Roller Support Bar.

The hold up roller needs to be cleaned periodically. If you are scanning translucent media such as mylar or vellum then dirt on the roller may leave a repeating pattern of specs on the scan. A dirty hold up roller will also reduce the ability of the scanner to correctly detect the width of paper in the scanner. Colortrac suggests cleaning it with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. That seems to work about the best.
