Roller: Hold Up Roller (SC/SCi 25)

This is the Hold up roller for the Colortrac (SC/SCi 25) large format scanners.

The hold up roller is a long, cushioned roller which presses the paper to the glass during the scanning process.

The hold up roller needs to be cleaned periodically. If you are scanning translucent media such as mylar or vellum then dirt on the roller may leave a repeating pattern of specs on the scan. A dirty hold up roller will also reduce the ability of the scanner to correctly detect the width of paper in the scanner. Colortrac suggests cleaning it with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. That seems to work about the best. Eventually, the roller does get "stained" and cannot be successfully cleaned.

The hold up roller is considered a consumable item and, therefore, the replacement must be purchased even if the scanner is still under warranty. If the scanner is under warranty, the labor to replace the roller is covered. You can contact support@paradigmimaging.com for help replacing the roller.
