Loading... Please wait...This is the power cable that runs from the Power Supply Board to the Main (Digital) Board for all of the Colortrac Series 4 large format scanner models: 3640, 3680, 4260, 4280, 4860 and 5480.
There were two versions of this cable. The original version had white connectors. The problem was that the contacts in the white connector would corrode and cause the power to the main board to fluctuate. Typically, this would cause the scanner to keep reseting itself while it was turned on. The symptom would be that, even after the scanner had booted up properly to the green LED (happy face), it would randomly reset where the amber LED would blink about ten times and then the green LED would come back on. This is the same behaviour as when the scanner is first turned on.
To fix the problem, Colortrac started using these cables with the orange connector. They are much more stable and are an exact replacement for the cables with the white connectors.
NOTE: The cable is not a straight through cable. The wiring on each end of the cable is different. It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep track of which board each end of the original cable is connected to and then match the replacement cable to the orignal cable end for end. Plugging the cable in the wrong way will blow the main board.
